Grant- related Energy Evaluations

The ecoEnergy / LiveSmart BC "Pre" Evaluation

• The "Pre" ecoEnergy evaluation takes between 2-3 hours. An Island Green Energy Advisor will arrive at your home at the scheduled time to:
  
  • inspect your home inside and out, gathering information about structure, insulation, windows, doors, heating and ventilation systems.
  • perform a blower door test to determine the rate of air leakage in the home.
  • enter inspection and test results into a computer program and produce an analysis of your home.
  • provide you with a printed report of clear and easy-to-understand information.
  • help you prioritize improvements by showing you how each change will reduce your energy use.

• Your printed ecoEnergy report, included in the Basic Home Energy Evaluation, contains:
  • an estimate of current energy consumption and costs, broken down for space heating, water heating, appliances and lighting.
  • a report showing the amount of current heat loss and where heat losses are occurring.
  • recommendations for improvement in order of greatest expected benefit.
  • the proper size of furnace, heat pump and air conditioner for your home to avoid unnecessary expense and inefficiency.
  • an official EnerGuide rating of your home's current energy efficiency.

 All this for $150 plus tax!  (Cost of ecoEnergy "Pre" evaluation).   Note: Additional fees may apply for homes 3,500 sq ft or more, and/or complex homes.  Travel fee may apply depending on location.     

The ecoEnergy / LiveSmart BC "Post" Evaluation

• The "Post Evaluation normally takes between 45 minutes to an hour.  The Energy Advisor will;
  • document the relivant changes you have made to your home.
  • perform a blower door test to determine the rate of air leakage in the home.
  • with you, fill out the documentation required by the relivant grant program(s).
  • the Energy Advisor submits the relivant documentation on your behalf.
  The cost of the "Post" evaluation is currently $150+tax.  Note: In the event of an addition being added to the home between the "Pre" and the "Post", an additional $75+tax will apply. Travel fee may apply depending on location.
